Cadzow Nursery School is recognised as a preschool centre by the Education Department. We operate in partnership with South Lanarkshire Council to provide funded preschool education for children aged 3 - 5 years.
Our 3 - 5 room is situated across the top level of the nursery, the room has experienced staff who provide a wealth of experiences to stimulate and develop the children in their care. Our staff have strategic planning to ensure children are learning through play. Our aim is children having fun but also learning and achieving. Our playroom and routine provide children with the appropriate balance of child led and adult initiated learning.
Our pre school children benefit from extra curricula activities including music lessons, swimming lessons, physical activity coaches and lots more!
In the pre school room children will follow the Curriculum for Excellence. Our children are encouraged to be responsible citizens, confident individuals, effective contributors and successful learners, we strive to ensure our children are educated appropriately and prepared for their transition to school.
We pride ourselves on ensuring that when children leave the nursery to move on to school they do so confidently and independently, whilst taking with them the enjoyment of learning and a pride in their achievements. We would strive for your child to be able to have the following skills when leaving the nursery: recognising their own name and that letters and words have a purpose, demonstrating good listening skills, showing preliminary reading skills, handling good pencil control, showing creative skills and knowledge of numbers. At the end of their pre school year the children take part in a graduation ceremony where they are presented with their leaving certificates and there is always a special party to mark the end of their time at Cadzow Nursery School.
